Are you looking for a diverse program taught by inspiring teachers who encourage kids to be the best they can be? The Youth Program at TDE inspires a love of dance and learning in every one of our students. Students can select from a wide array of classes that fit their individual interests. As students progress through each level, their achievements are celebrated and they feel a great sense of accomplishment. A life long appreciation for the arts has begun!

Students may enroll in one or more classes. We encourage all students to study ballet since it is the foundation of all dance forms and necessary for proper progression in tap, jazz and modern/contemporary.

Acrobatic Arts

Acrobatic Arts

Academic Year Classes

Dates: Sept 9, 2019 to May 31, 2020

The Acrobatic Arts program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.

This comprehensive program was developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more. Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner level dancer from log rolls and somersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the studio!

Benefits of Acrobatic (Acro) Dance: Acro fundamentals increase technical levels for all other dance disciplines. Additionally the limbering and tumbling skills gained through Acro add verstility to the dancer's training. Not only does the student develop the foundational skills to perform aerials and back handsprings, it improves his/her ability to leap and turn in all dance technique classes. Current trends in choreography include acrobatic dance.

PLACEMENT & LEVELS

Youth Program classes (Levels A-C) are the foundation for advancement through the Intensive program (Levels D-F). â€‹Each level's curriculum builds upon the foundation established in the previous level.

Placement is based on both age and dance experience. Typically, it takes students 1 year to complete Levels A-B, and 2-3 years to complete Levels C-F since the syllabus for upper levels span several years.

The Dance Extension faculty evaluates each dancer annually, and enters recommendations for future classes in the "Notes" Section of the student's online account.
